Key Responsibilities
- Install, maintain, and repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures.
- Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair.
- Ensure compliance with current electrical codes and safety regulations (e.g., BS 7671 IET Wiring Regulations).
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
- Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components, using test equipment and hand tools to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem.
- Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other components.
- Perform preventative maintenance on electrical systems and equipment.
- Provide clear and concise progress reports and maintain accurate records of work performed.
- Collaborate effectively with other tradespeople and project managers on site.
- Adhere strictly to health and safety procedures and site-specific rules.
Required Skills
- Recognised electrical qualification (e.g., NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds 2360/2330/2357 or equivalent).
- Current 18th Edition IET Wiring Regulations (BS 7671) certification.
- Proven experience in electrical installation, maintenance, and testing.
- Strong understanding of health and safety regulations.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent problem-solving and diagnostic skills.
- Good communication skills in English.
Preferred Qualifications
- ECS Gold Card or equivalent industry accreditation.
- IPAF / PASMA certification.
- Experience with fire alarm and emergency lighting systems.
- Familiarity with smart home technologies and renewable energy installations.
- Full UK driving licence (or equivalent international licence valid for conversion).
