This role requires a proactive approach, physical stamina, and the ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team.
You will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including cleaning, sanitizing, dusting, vacuuming, and stocking supplies in guest rooms, as well as maintaining the cleanliness of corridors, lobbies, and other common areas. A strong understanding of cleaning agents and equipment, coupled with a commitment to safety protocols, is essential. Key Responsibilities
- Clean and tidy all assigned guest rooms according to established standards and procedures.
- Replenish guest room supplies, including linens, toiletries, and informational materials.
- Vacuum carpets, sweep and mop floors, and dust all surfaces.
- Sanitize bathrooms, including toilets, showers, bathtubs, sinks, and floors.
- Empty wastebaskets and transport trash and waste to disposal areas.
- Clean and maintain public areas, including lobbies, hallways, and common restrooms.
- Report any maintenance issues, safety hazards, or damaged items immediately.
- Adhere to all health and safety regulations and hotel cleanliness standards.
- Handle guest requests promptly and courteously.
- Manage linen stock and ensure proper handling and inventory.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a housekeeper or in a similar cleaning role, preferably in a hotel environment.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and also as part of a team.
- Strong attention to detail and a high standard of cleanliness.
- Good physical stamina and ability to perform duties that require bending, lifting, and standing for extended periods.
- Knowledge of various cleaning chemicals and equipment, and proper usage.
- Reliable, punctual, and a strong work ethic.
- Excellent time management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Basic knowledge of English or Kinyarwanda for communication purposes.
- Previous experience in a 3-star or higher hotel setting.
- Familiarity with hotel operating procedures and guest service best practices.
