Are you a compassionate and proactive individual with a passion for community well-being and social justice? Caritas Switzerland is seeking a dedicated Community Health Outreach Worker to join our impactful team in Luzern. Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct regular outreach activities within diverse communities in Luzern to identify health needs, promote healthy lifestyles, and disseminate essential health information.
  • Build and maintain trusting relationships with community members, local organizations, and social service providers.
  • Provide accurate, culturally sensitive, and accessible health information on topics such as nutrition, hygiene, chronic disease management, mental health, preventative care, and access to medical services.
  • Assess individual and community needs, identify barriers to accessing health and social services, and help navigate complex systems.
  • Connect individuals with appropriate healthcare services, social support programs, educational opportunities, and community resources.
  • Facilitate health education workshops, support groups, and community events tailored to the specific needs of the population.
  • Collect and record data related to outreach activities, client interactions, service referrals, and outcomes, ensuring confidentiality and accuracy.
  • Collaborate effectively with internal Caritas teams and external partners to enhance service delivery, develop new programs, and maximize community impact.
  • Advocate for the health and social needs of vulnerable populations, contributing insights to program development and informing policy discussions.
  • Identify and report emerging health trends, community concerns, and gaps in services to relevant stakeholders.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in community outreach, social work, public health, or a related field.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and trust with diverse populations.
  • Strong empathy, cultural competence, and sensitivity to the needs of vulnerable individuals and families.
  • Ability to work independently in community settings while effectively collaborating as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Good organizational skills, attention to detail, and proficiency in data collection and reporting.
  • Fluency in German (verbal and written) and English is essential for effective communication.
  • Basic computer literacy, including proficiency with MS Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Public Health, Nursing, Community Development, or a closely related discipline.
  • Previous experience working specifically with marginalized, immigrant, or underserved populations in Switzerland.
  • Proficiency in additional local languages (e.g., French, Italian) or common immigrant languages.
  • In-depth knowledge of the Swiss healthcare and social service system.
  • First Aid certification and/or other relevant health-related certifications.
  • Experience in workshop facilitation and public speaking.
