Job Description
As a Port Operations Manager at DP World Maputo, you will be instrumental in overseeing and optimizing the complex daily operations of our busy port terminal. Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage all aspects of daily port terminal operations, ensuring optimal productivity and efficiency.
- Develop, implement, and monitor operational plans, policies, and procedures to meet business objectives and regulatory requirements.
- Oversee resource allocation, including personnel, equipment, and berths, to maximize throughput and minimize delays.
- Ensure strict adherence to all health, safety, security, and environmental (HSSE) standards and regulations.
- Manage and motivate a diverse team of operational staff, fostering a high-performance culture through training, coaching, and performance management.
- Liaise effectively with internal departments, shipping lines, port authorities, customs, and other external stakeholders to ensure seamless operations.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs), analyze operational data, and implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
- Prepare and manage operational budgets, ensuring cost-effective utilization of resources.
- Respond effectively to operational incidents, emergencies, and unforeseen challenges, implementing corrective actions promptly.
- Drive the adoption of new technologies and best practices to modernize port operations and enhance service delivery.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Maritime Studies, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in port operations management or a similar senior role within the maritime industry.
- Proven leadership and team management skills with the ability to inspire and motivate diverse teams.
- In-depth knowledge of port management systems, terminal operating systems (TOS), and cargo handling processes.
- Strong understanding of international maritime regulations, customs procedures, and safety standards (e.g., ISPS Code).
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Proficiency in English and Portuguese, both written and spoken, is essential.
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex operations in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
- Solid financial acumen with experience in budget management and cost control.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Supply Chain Management, Logistics).
- Certification in Lean Six Sigma or other process improvement methodologies.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
