Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and review accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in strict accordance with IFRS and local regulatory requirements.
- Manage and coordinate external audits, acting as the primary liaison between the company and external auditors, ensuring timely and effective completion.
- Ensure comprehensive compliance with all relevant financial regulations, tax laws, and corporate governance standards applicable in Mozambique.
- Oversee general ledger operations, ensuring all financial transactions are accurately recorded, reconciled, and properly documented.
- Conduct in-depth financial analysis, budgeting, and forecasting to provide strategic insights and support informed decision-making.
- Develop, implement, and monitor robust internal controls to safeguard company assets, ensure data integrity, and minimize financial risks.
- Provide expert financial advice and support to various internal departments, including treasury, operations, and risk management.
- Prepare and submit precise and timely regulatory reports to the Bank of Mozambique and other relevant governmental authorities.
- Lead, mentor, and train junior accounting staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, knowledge sharing, and professional development.
- Stay abreast of changes in international accounting standards, tax laws, and financial regulations to ensure ongoing compliance and best practices.
Required Skills
- ICAN (Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria) qualification is mandatory.
- Minimum of 4 years of proven post-qualification experience in financial accounting, reporting, and analysis.
- Strong knowledge and practical application of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
- Proficiency in enterprise-level accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or similar ERP systems) and advanced Excel skills.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical decision-making abilities.
- Exceptional attention to detail and unwavering commitment to accuracy.
- Ability to communicate complex financial information clearly, concisely, and effectively to diverse audiences.
- Fluency in English (written and spoken) is essential for international reporting.
