Career.supersecrets is urgently seeking a passionate, skilled, and customer-focused Barista to join our bustling coffee shop team in Butare, Southern Province. Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and serve a variety of coffee beverages, including espresso, latte, cappuccino, and other specialty drinks, adhering to quality standards and recipes.
- Operate and maintain all coffee-making equipment, ensuring cleanliness, proper functioning, and adherence to maintenance schedules.
- Greet customers warmly, take orders accurately, and provide excellent customer service, answering questions about menu items and offering recommendations.
- Handle cash and credit card transactions using a POS system, ensuring accuracy, proper cash handling procedures, and daily reconciliation.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the coffee bar, seating areas, restrooms, and storage areas throughout shifts, following health and safety regulations.
- Monitor inventory of coffee beans, milk, syrups, pastries, and other supplies, communicating needs to management to ensure adequate stock levels.
- Adhere to all food safety and sanitation guidelines, including proper handling and storage of ingredients.
- Assist with opening and closing procedures as required, including setting up and breaking down the coffee bar.
- Engage with customers in a friendly, professional, and attentive manner, building rapport and ensuring a positive, welcoming experience for everyone.
- Resolve minor customer complaints and issues effectively and efficiently, escalating to management when necessary to ensure customer satisfaction.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Barista in a busy coffee shop or café environment (minimum 6 months).
- Extensive knowledge of various coffee preparation techniques, espresso extraction, and milk frothing.
- Exceptional customer service and strong communication skills, with a friendly and approachable demeanor.
- Ability to work efficiently, accurately, and calmly in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
- Strong attention to detail, commitment to quality, and passion for creating perfect beverages.
- Basic mathematical skills and proficiency in operating Point-of-Sale (POS) systems for transactions.
- Reliable, punctual, and possessing a strong work ethic with the ability to work flexible hours, including weekends.
- Fluency in English (proficiency in Kinyarwanda is a significant advantage).
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 15 kg.
Preferred Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent qualification.
- Certification in food safety or hospitality management.
- Demonstrated experience with latte art and advanced coffee presentation techniques.
- In-depth knowledge of various coffee bean origins, roasting processes, and flavor profiles.
- Ability to speak Kinyarwanda fluently to better serve our local clientele.
- Experience in inventory management and ordering.
