Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and monitor Health & Safety policies, procedures, and systems in line with national and international standards.
- Conduct regular risk assessments and safety audits across all industrial operations to identify hazards and assess risks.
- Investigate all accidents, incidents, and near misses, determining root causes and recommending corrective actions.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant local and federal Health & Safety legislation and company policies.
- Develop and deliver comprehensive safety training programs for employees, contractors, and visitors.
- Oversee the management of hazardous materials, waste disposal, and emergency preparedness plans (fire, chemical spill, etc.).
- Prepare and present regular H&S performance reports to management, including key metrics and recommendations.
- Manage and maintain safety equipment, ensuring regular inspections and proper functionality.
- Promote a proactive safety culture through communication campaigns, safety committees, and employee engagement.
- Liaise with regulatory bodies and external auditors during inspections and assessments.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in Health & Safety management within an industrial or manufacturing environment.
- Recognized professional certifications such as NEBOSH IGC, IOSH Managing Safely, or equivalent.
- In-depth knowledge of Nigerian Health & Safety regulations (e.g., Factories Act, OSHA-related standards).
- Proven ability to conduct risk assessments, incident investigations, and safety audits.
- Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or Higher National Diploma (HND) in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience with ISO 45001 (Occupational Health and Safety Management System).
- First Aid and Fire Safety certification.
