As a Barista, you will be the face of the café, directly interacting with our diverse clientele. Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and serve a variety of coffee beverages, teas, and other drinks according to recipes and customer preferences.
- Operate and maintain espresso machines, grinders, and other coffee-making equipment.
- Take customer orders accurately, process payments, and provide friendly, efficient service.
- Engage with customers in a warm and welcoming manner, answering questions about menu items and making recommendations.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the coffee bar, seating areas, and restrooms throughout shifts.
- Monitor and replenish inventory of coffee beans, milk, syrups, and other supplies.
- Adhere to all food safety and hygiene standards.
- Assist with opening and closing duties of the café, including cleaning and restocking.
- Handle customer feedback and resolve issues professionally and promptly.
- Collaborate with the café team to ensure smooth operations and a positive work environment.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Barista or in a similar customer service role, preferably 6-12 months.
- Excellent knowledge of coffee types, brewing methods, and espresso preparation.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Exceptional customer service orientation and a friendly demeanor.
- Basic math skills for handling transactions and calculating change.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 lbs.
Preferred Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Certification in food handling or hospitality.
- Experience with latte art techniques.
- Fluency in additional local languages (e.g., Yoruba).
