Key Responsibilities
- Assist residents with personal care activities including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting, maintaining their dignity and privacy.
- Help with mobility and transfers, using appropriate equipment and techniques to ensure safety.
- Support residents with feeding and hydration, encouraging independence where possible and adapting to individual needs.
- Engage residents in social, recreational, and therapeutic activities to promote mental and physical well-being.
- Monitor and report changes in residents' physical, emotional, or cognitive status to nursing staff promptly.
- Maintain a clean, tidy, and safe environment for residents, adhering to health and safety protocols.
- Administer medication under the direct supervision of a qualified nurse, following prescribed guidelines.
- Document care provided and observations accurately in resident care plans.
- Provide companionship and emotional support, fostering a positive and comforting atmosphere.
- Communicate effectively with residents, their families, and the multidisciplinary care team.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Care Assistant or similar role, preferably in an old age home setting.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with a compassionate and empathetic approach.
- Ability to follow care plans and adhere to health and safety regulations.
- Patience, resilience, and a positive attitude.
- Basic understanding of hygiene and infection control practices.
- Physical stamina and the ability to perform tasks requiring bending, lifting, and standing for extended periods.
