Key Responsibilities
- Safely and efficiently transport goods to designated locations within Pietermaritzburg and surrounding areas.
- Adhere strictly to assigned delivery schedules and planned routes, managing time effectively.
- Carefully load and unload packages and other items, ensuring their integrity.
- Perform routine vehicle checks (tyres, fuel, oil, lights) before and after shifts and maintain vehicle cleanliness.
- Accurately complete all necessary delivery documentation, including manifests and proof of delivery.
- Provide professional and courteous customer service during all interactions.
- Report any vehicle malfunctions, incidents, accidents, or delivery delays to management promptly.
- Comply with all traffic laws, road safety regulations, and company safety procedures at all times.
Required Skills
- Valid Code B (or equivalent) South African driver's license.
- Clean driving record with no major endorsements or violations.
- Excellent knowledge of Pietermaritzburg and its surrounding suburbs/areas.
- Strong time management and organizational skills to ensure punctual deliveries.
- Physical ability to lift, carry, and move packages (up to 25kg) throughout a shift.
- Good verbal communication skills in English.
- Proven reliability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic.
- Ability to work independently and make sound decisions on the road.
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum of 1-2 years of proven experience in a delivery, courier, or professional driving role.
- Familiarity with using GPS devices and modern navigation applications.
