Job Description

A vibrant preschool in Coventry is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Preschool Teacher Assistant to join their team immediately. This is an incredible opportunity for someone passionate about early childhood development, eager to support lead teachers, and create an engaging, safe, and stimulating learning environment for children aged 2-5 years. As a key member of the team, you will contribute to the daily operations, assist with lesson implementation, and help foster a positive atmosphere where every child feels valued and encouraged to explore, learn, and grow. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the lead teacher in planning and implementing age-appropriate educational activities and lesson plans.
  • Supervise children during indoor and outdoor play, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.
  • Support children with their daily routines, including meal times, snack times, and toileting.
  • Help maintain a clean, organized, and stimulating classroom environment that supports learning and exploration.
  • Observe and document children's progress and behaviour, reporting any concerns or achievements to the lead teacher.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom atmosphere that encourages social, emotional, and cognitive development.
  • Engage with children through storytelling, games, creative arts, and other learning experiences.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with parents/guardians under the guidance of the lead teacher, providing updates on their child's day.
  • Participate in staff meetings and continuous professional development opportunities as required.
  • Adhere strictly to all school policies and procedures, including health and safety regulations and safeguarding protocols.
  • Assist with preparing learning materials and classroom displays.

Required Skills

  • Genuine passion for working with young children and their development.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of interacting effectively with children, parents, and staff.
  • Patience, empathy, and a nurturing approach to childcare.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a diverse and collaborative team.
  • Reliability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic.
  • Basic understanding of early childhood development principles.
  • Eligibility to work legally in the UK.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Preferred Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Early Years Education and Childcare (or equivalent qualification).
  • Previous experience (paid or voluntary) in a preschool, nursery, or other early years setting.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework.
  • Current Paediatric First Aid qualification.
  • Recent Safeguarding training certificate.
