Key Responsibilities
- Safely and efficiently transport goods and packages to various destinations across Soweto and Gauteng, adhering strictly to planned routes and schedules.
- Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle, ensuring it is in optimal working condition and reporting any maintenance needs promptly.
- Accurately load, unload, and secure items within the van, taking care to prevent damage during transit.
- Maintain precise delivery logs, obtain necessary signatures, and complete all required paperwork and electronic records.
- Interact professionally and courteously with customers, representing the company with a positive attitude.
- Adhere to all traffic laws, road safety regulations, and company policies at all times.
- Keep the vehicle clean and tidy, both inside and out.
- Assist with warehouse duties or other tasks as required during downtime.
Required Skills
- Valid South African driving license (Code 8/B or higher with PDP if required).
- Minimum of 2 years of proven professional van driving experience.
- Clean driving record with no major violations.
- Excellent knowledge of Soweto and surrounding Gauteng areas.
- Ability to operate a GPS and navigate using maps.
- Physical stamina to lift and move packages, sometimes weighing up to 25kg.
- Strong time management and organizational skills.
- Reliable, punctual, and a strong sense of responsibility.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Public Driving Permit (PDP).
- Experience with courier or logistics software/handheld devices.
- Forklift operator certificate (advantageous, not essential).
- First Aid certification.
- Demonstrated experience in a customer-facing delivery role.
