Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate company vehicles (vans, trucks, etc.) for the transportation of goods as per assigned routes and schedules.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles, ensuring they are in optimal working condition; report any defects or maintenance needs promptly.
- Load and unload cargo safely, ensuring proper securing of goods to prevent damage during transit.
- Adhere strictly to all traffic laws, company policies, and safety regulations.
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries, including mileage, fuel consumption, and delivery confirmations.
- Provide exceptional customer service during pickups and deliveries, maintaining a professional and courteous demeanor.
- Ensure timely delivery of goods, communicating any potential delays or issues to dispatch.
- Keep the vehicle clean and tidy, both inside and out.
- Assist with warehouse duties or other tasks as needed, when not engaged in driving duties.
- Strictly follow established security procedures for handling valuable cargo.
Required Skills
- Valid Nigerian Driver's License (Class G minimum)
- Minimum 2 years of verifiable professional driving experience
- Excellent knowledge of Lagos road networks, especially Festac Town and Amuwo Odofin environs
- Strong understanding of traffic laws and road safety regulations
- Ability to perform basic vehicle maintenance checks and troubleshooting
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- High level of responsibility, reliability, and punctuality
- Physical fitness to handle loading and unloading duties
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience driving larger commercial vehicles (e.g., 5-ton trucks or more)
- Defensive driving certification
- Basic mechanical knowledge for minor vehicle repairs
- Previous experience in a logistics or courier service company
- Possession of a First Aid certification
