Key Responsibilities
- Conduct regular patrols of assigned premises, both on foot and via surveillance systems, to detect and deter unauthorized activities, theft, vandalism, and other security breaches.
- Monitor and operate security equipment, including CCTV cameras, alarm systems, and access control systems, reporting any malfunctions or suspicious observations promptly.
- Respond promptly and effectively to alarms, incidents, and emergencies such as medical emergencies, fires, and unauthorized entries, following established protocols.
- Maintain accurate and detailed daily reports, incident logs, and visitor records, ensuring all security activities and observations are well-documented for future reference.
- Enforce company policies and procedures, ensuring compliance from staff, visitors, and contractors while maintaining a professional and courteous demeanor.
- Provide a visible and reassuring security presence, offering assistance and directions to authorized personnel and visitors when needed, contributing to a positive environment.
- Implement crowd control measures and assist with evacuations during emergencies, guiding individuals to safety and ensuring orderly movement.
- Collaborate effectively with local law enforcement and emergency services as required during critical incidents, acting as a crucial liaison.
- Conduct initial investigations into security breaches or incidents, gathering facts and securing evidence as appropriate, and preparing detailed reports for management.
Required Skills
- Excellent observational and communication skills, both written and verbal, in English and Swahili.
- Demonstrated strong sense of integrity, honesty, and professionalism, with a commitment to ethical conduct.
- Ability to remain calm, focused, and effective under pressure and in emergency situations, ensuring optimal decision-making.
- Basic computer literacy for report writing, system monitoring, and communication tasks.
- Physical fitness and ability to stand, walk, and patrol for extended periods, as well as respond quickly to incidents.
- Willingness to undergo and successfully complete comprehensive security training and certification programs.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to identifying and mitigating potential security threats.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in security, law enforcement, or military service is an added advantage but not mandatory.
- Valid Certificate of Good Conduct from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Kenya.
- First Aid/CPR certification or willingness to obtain it, demonstrating a commitment to safety.
- Basic knowledge of local security laws and regulations relevant to the Mavoko region.
- A valid Kenyan driving license (classes B, C, or G) for potential mobile patrol duties, enhancing operational flexibility.
