Career.supersecrets is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Community Health Extension Worker (CHEW) to join our esteemed network of healthcare professionals serving communities across Kano. As a CHEW, you will be instrumental in improving public health outcomes, promoting healthy lifestyles, and providing essential health services directly to individuals and families within their own environments. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct community health assessments to identify prevalent health issues and needs.
- Provide basic healthcare services, including first aid, immunizations, and management of minor ailments.
- Deliver maternal and child health services, including antenatal care, postnatal care, and family planning counseling.
- Administer health education sessions on topics such as hygiene, nutrition, disease prevention (e.g., malaria, tuberculosis, HIV/AIDS), and sanitation.
- Facilitate community engagement and mobilization for health programs and initiatives.
- Conduct household visits to monitor health status, provide health advice, and identify at-risk individuals.
- Assist in disease surveillance, reporting outbreaks, and implementing control measures.
- Refer patients with complex health conditions to appropriate health facilities and specialists.
- Maintain accurate and confidential health records and generate regular reports on community health activities.
- Collaborate with traditional birth attendants, community leaders, and other stakeholders to enhance health service delivery.

- Strong understanding of primary healthcare principles.
- Proficiency in basic clinical and first aid procedures.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written).
- Ability to engage effectively with diverse community members.

- Fluency in Hausa and English languages.
Preferred Qualifications

- Familiarity with local health policies, programs, and cultural practices in Kano.
