Key Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee all daily marine operational activities, including vessel scheduling, port calls, and cargo handling.
- Ensure strict compliance with all local, national, and international maritime regulations, including SOLAS, MARPOL, and ISM Code.
- Develop, implement, and monitor operational policies, procedures, and safety management systems (SMS).
- Lead, mentor, and manage a team of marine operations personnel, fostering a culture of safety, efficiency, and continuous improvement.
- Liaise effectively with port authorities, customs, clients, vessel masters, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth operations.
- Conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies to minimize operational incidents and ensure crew and vessel safety.
- Prepare and manage operational budgets, control costs, and optimize resource utilization.
- Investigate and report on marine incidents, near misses, and non-conformities, implementing corrective actions.
- Monitor market trends and technological advancements in the marine industry to recommend operational enhancements.
- Coordinate maintenance and repair schedules for vessels, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
- Provide regular performance reports to senior management, highlighting key metrics, challenges, and achievements.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in marine operations management, preferably in a busy port or marina environment.
- Strong knowledge of international and local maritime laws, regulations, and safety standards.
- Excellent leadership, team management, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to make critical decisions under pressure and manage complex logistics.
- Proficiency in marine operations software and standard office applications.
- Exceptional problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to operational challenges.
- Strong financial acumen with experience in budget management and cost control.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Maritime Logistics, Marine Engineering, Nautical Science, or a related field.
- Master Mariner or Chief Engineer certification.
- Certifications in ISM Code, ISPS Code, or other relevant maritime safety and security protocols.
- Experience with vessel management systems (VMS) and port community systems (PCS).
- Fluency in Arabic is a plus, though not mandatory.
