Career.supersecrets is seeking a highly skilled and passionate Tailor/Seamstress to join our vibrant team in the serene Liwa Oasis, Abu Dhabi. This is a unique opportunity for a meticulous artisan to contribute their expertise to a growing clientele, specializing in both traditional Emirati attire and contemporary fashion repairs and alterations. We are looking for an individual with a keen eye for detail, exceptional hand-sewing and machine-sewing capabilities, and a deep understanding of various fabric types and garment construction.
The ideal candidate will be adept at transforming visions into reality, ensuring every garment fits perfectly and reflects the highest standards of quality and craftsmanship. From intricate embroidery work on local thobes and abayas to precise adjustments on Western-style suits and dresses, your versatility will be highly valued. You will work closely with customers, offering professional advice on fabric choices, design modifications, and fit, ensuring complete satisfaction. Key Responsibilities
- Take accurate measurements of clients for bespoke garments and alterations.
- Cut and prepare various types of fabrics according to patterns and client specifications.
- Operate industrial and domestic sewing machines proficiently to construct and repair garments.
- Perform intricate hand-sewing, embellishments, and finishing touches on garments, especially traditional wear.
- Conduct fittings and make necessary adjustments to ensure perfect fit and client satisfaction.
- Repair and alter a wide range of clothing, including dresses, suits, shirts, trousers, and traditional garments.
- Advise clients on fabric choices, design modifications, and garment care.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace and ensure all equipment is in good working order.
- Manage time effectively to meet deadlines for custom orders and alterations.
- Stay updated with new fashion trends, sewing techniques, and fabric innovations.
Required Skills
- Proven expertise in both hand and machine sewing techniques.
- Proficiency in operating various sewing machines (e.g., lockstitch, overlock, buttonhole).
- Excellent knowledge of fabric types, their properties, and suitable handling methods.
- Exceptional attention to detail and a keen eye for quality and precision.
- Ability to accurately take measurements and interpret patterns.
- Strong problem-solving skills for garment construction and alteration challenges.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills for client interaction.
