Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate heavy-duty trucks (e.g., articulated trucks, rigid trucks) for long-distance routes across South Africa.
- Transport goods and materials from Middelburg to various destinations and back, ensuring timely and secure deliveries.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles and equipment, reporting any defects or issues promptly.
- Adhere strictly to all traffic laws, road safety regulations, and company policies.
- Maintain accurate logbooks, delivery records, and all required documentation.
- Ensure the proper loading, securing, and unloading of cargo to prevent damage during transit.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, clients, and other team members regarding delivery schedules, delays, and potential issues.
- Manage fuel efficiency and mileage records, performing minor roadside repairs if necessary.
- Represent the company professionally at all times, upholding a high standard of customer service.
Required Skills
- Valid Code EC or C1/EC1 driver's license with PrDP (Professional Driving Permit) for heavy goods vehicles.
- Minimum of 24 months (2 years) verifiable experience as a long-distance truck driver.
- Clean driving record with no major traffic violations.
- Thorough knowledge of South African road network and traffic laws.
- Ability to perform physical tasks associated with loading/unloading and vehicle maintenance.
- Strong understanding of vehicle mechanics and troubleshooting common issues.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Reliable, responsible, and safety-conscious approach to work.

- Experience with different types of trailers (e.g., flatbeds, tautliners, tankers).
