Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, understanding their event goals, budget, and specific requirements for both wedding and corporate functions.
- Develop detailed event proposals, including concept design, budget breakdown, timelines, and logistical plans.
- Research and scout appropriate venues, obtain quotes, and negotiate contracts with vendors (caterers, decorators, photographers, entertainment, technical support, etc.).
- Create and manage comprehensive event timelines, schedules, and checklists to ensure all milestones are met.
- Coordinate all logistical aspects of events, including registration, transportation, accommodation, audiovisual setup, and on-site management.
- Oversee event setup and breakdown, ensuring all elements are executed according to plan and quality standards.
- Manage event budgets, track expenses, process invoices, and ensure events are delivered within financial parameters.
- Conduct post-event evaluations, gather feedback, and prepare reports to assess success and identify areas for improvement.
- Proactively troubleshoot any issues that arise before, during, or after events.
- Maintain a robust network of reliable vendors and suppliers in Kwali, Abuja, and surrounding areas.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in event planning, specifically with exposure to both wedding and corporate events.
- Demonstrable portfolio of successfully executed events.
- Exceptional organizational and project management skills, with keen attention to detail.
- Strong negotiation and vendor management abilities.
- Proficiency in budget management and financial tracking for events.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects concurrently in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to perform under pressure.
- Proficiency in event management software and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management, Marketing, Public Relations, or a related field.
- Certification in Event Management (e.g., CMP, CSEP).
- Established network of clients and vendors within the Abuja event industry.
- Experience with digital event platforms and virtual/hybrid event coordination.
- Fluency in additional local languages (e.g., Hausa, Yoruba, Igbo) is a plus.
