Job Description

Career.supersecrets is actively seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Health & Safety Officer to join one of our esteemed clients within a bustling industrial estate in Ketti, Abuja. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and monitor comprehensive Health & Safety policies and procedures in line with national regulations and industry best practices.
  • Conduct regular risk assessments, hazard identification, and safety audits across the industrial estate to ensure compliance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Investigate all incidents, accidents, and near-misses, preparing detailed reports and recommending corrective and preventive actions.
  • Organize and deliver safety training programs for all employees, contractors, and visitors, covering topics such as emergency procedures, safe work practices, and use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Ensure strict adherence to all health and safety regulations, including occupational health standards, fire safety codes, and environmental protection guidelines.
  • Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, incidents, training, and corrective actions.
  • Advise management on health and safety best practices, regulatory changes, and potential risks, recommending necessary upgrades or modifications.
  • Oversee the proper storage, handling, and disposal of hazardous materials.
  • Promote a strong safety culture through awareness campaigns, safety committees, and employee engagement initiatives.
  • Prepare and submit periodic health and safety reports to management and relevant regulatory bodies.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience as a Health & Safety Officer in an industrial or manufacturing setting.
  • Thorough knowledge of occupational health and safety regulations and standards (e.g., OSHA, ISO 45001).
  • Proficiency in risk assessment and hazard identification techniques.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to train and influence others.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Professional certification such as NEBOSH IGC, ISPON, or equivalent.
  • Experience with Safety Management Systems (SMS).
  • First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Knowledge of environmental management systems (e.g., ISO 14001).
