Are you a meticulous and proactive individual with a passion for print and an eye for detail? We are urgently seeking a dedicated Printing Shop Assistant to join a dynamic and fast-paced printing environment in George, Western Cape. As a Printing Shop Assistant, you will play a crucial role in the daily operations of the shop, supporting senior staff and ensuring that all printing projects are executed flawlessly and on schedule. Your tasks will range from preparing materials and operating machinery to quality control and customer interaction, making every day unique and challenging. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with the setup and operation of various printing presses and finishing equipment (e.g., digital printers, laminators, guillotines).
  • Prepare print materials, including loading paper, ink, and other supplies.
  • Perform quality checks on printed materials to ensure accuracy, colour consistency, and adherence to specifications.
  • Handle finishing tasks such as cutting, binding, folding, and packaging of printed products.
  • Maintain a clean and organised work environment, including routine machine cleaning and general shop upkeep.
  • Assist with inventory management, including receiving, storing, and tracking supplies.
  • Provide friendly and efficient support to customers, taking orders, offering advice, and ensuring satisfaction.
  • Adhere strictly to all health and safety regulations within the print shop.
  • Support senior printers and management with ad-hoc tasks as required to ensure smooth operations.

Required Skills

  • Matric / Grade 12 qualification.
  • Proven experience (minimum 1 year) in a production, manufacturing, or printing environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Basic computer literacy (Microsoft Office Suite).
  • Ability to follow instructions accurately and work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Physical stamina to lift and move materials, and stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Relevant qualification or certificate in printing technology or graphic design.
  • Experience with specific printing machinery (e.g., Konica Minolta, Xerox, Roland).
  • Knowledge of different paper types and printing processes.
  • Familiarity with graphic design software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite) for basic adjustments.
  • Previous customer service experience.
