Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) policies, procedures, and programs tailored for an industrial estate.
- Conduct regular and thorough risk assessments, hazard identification, and safety audits across all operational areas, recommending and overseeing the implementation of corrective actions.
- Ensure strict compliance with all relevant local and international HSE regulations, standards, and best practices (e.g., OSHA, ISO 45001).
- Organize and deliver effective safety training programs and workshops for employees and contractors, promoting a strong safety culture.
- Investigate all incidents, accidents, and near-misses, determining root causes and implementing preventative measures to avoid recurrence.
- Prepare and present detailed HSE reports to management, including performance metrics, incident summaries, and compliance status.
- Manage emergency response planning, drills, and procedures, ensuring preparedness for various scenarios.
- Advise management on HSE-related issues, new legislation, and continuous improvement opportunities.
- Oversee the proper use, maintenance, and disposal of personal protective equipment (PPE) and other safety equipment.
- Collaborate with department heads to integrate safety considerations into all operational planning and project execution.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Health & Safety Officer in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
- In-depth knowledge of Nigerian and international HSE regulations and standards.
- Excellent risk assessment and hazard identification abilities.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
- Proficiency in incident investigation and root cause analysis.
