Key Responsibilities
- Safely and efficiently operate company vehicles for the delivery of goods, documents, and personnel across designated routes in Abuja and surrounding areas.
- Strictly adhere to all traffic laws, road safety regulations, and company driving policies.
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles, ensuring they are roadworthy, clean, and well-maintained; report any mechanical issues or damage promptly.
- Assist with the careful loading and unloading of items, meticulously verifying cargo against delivery manifests to ensure accuracy and prevent discrepancies.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of deliveries, mileage, fuel consumption, and scheduled vehicle maintenance.
- Interact professionally and courteously with clients, colleagues, and the general public, upholding the company's image at all times.
- Plan efficient routes using navigation tools to minimize delays, optimize delivery schedules, and conserve fuel.
- Handle cash or payment transactions if required, ensuring proper reconciliation and secure handling of funds.
- Ensure the security of company assets, including vehicles and cargo, at all times, implementing best practices to prevent theft or damage.
- Respond promptly to dispatch instructions and communicate effectively with the logistics team regarding delivery status, challenges, or schedule changes.
Required Skills
- Valid Nigerian Driver's License (Class E or G preferred)
- Minimum of 3 years proven experience as a professional driver, particularly in logistics or delivery services
- Clean driving record with no major traffic violations or accidents
- Excellent knowledge of Abuja road networks, routes, and alternative paths
- Strong understanding of road safety regulations and defensive driving techniques
- Ability to perform basic vehicle maintenance checks (e.g., fluid levels, tire pressure)
- Good verbal communication and interpersonal skills
- High level of reliability, punctuality, and responsibility
