Key Responsibilities
- Operate, monitor, and control water treatment processes and equipment (e.g., filtration, chemical dosing, disinfection, clarification).
- Conduct regular site inspections, plant rounds, and equipment checks to ensure optimal performance and identify potential issues.
- Perform routine preventative maintenance and minor repairs on pumps, valves, motors, and other plant machinery.
- Collect and analyze water samples, performing on-site laboratory tests to monitor water quality parameters and ensure compliance.
- Maintain accurate operational logs, records, and reports, detailing plant performance, chemical usage, and maintenance activities.
- Respond to alarms and abnormal operating conditions, initiating corrective actions promptly and effectively.
- Ensure strict adherence to all health and safety regulations, operational procedures, and environmental guidelines.
- Assist with the unloading and safe handling of chemicals, ensuring appropriate storage and inventory management.
- Collaborate effectively with colleagues, supervisors, and external contractors to ensure seamless plant operations.
- Participate in ongoing training and development programs to enhance skills and knowledge in water treatment technologies.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in water treatment plant operations or a related industrial process environment.
- Solid understanding of water treatment processes, chemistry, and regulatory compliance (e.g., DWI).
- Ability to interpret technical manuals, process flow diagrams, and operational procedures.
- Competence in using SCADA systems and other process control software.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- Flexibility to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Full UK driving license.
Preferred Qualifications
- NVQ Level 2/3 in Water Treatment Operations or an equivalent qualification.
- Relevant industry certifications (e.g., confined spaces, working at height, first aid).
- Experience with fault finding and minor mechanical/electrical maintenance.
- Knowledge of environmental management systems.
