Key Responsibilities
- Assist qualified staff in delivering daily activities and educational programmes tailored to children's developmental stages.
- Supervise children during playtime, meal times, and nap times, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.
- Help maintain a clean, tidy, and organised environment, including tidying play areas and cleaning equipment.
- Support children with personal care routines, such as nappy changing and toilet training, with dignity and respect.
- Observe and report on children's behaviour, development, and progress to senior staff.
- Build positive relationships with children, parents, and colleagues, fostering a welcoming and communicative atmosphere.
- Participate in team meetings and training sessions to enhance professional development.
- Adhere to all safeguarding policies and procedures, prioritising the welfare of children.
Required Skills
- Genuine passion for working with children and supporting their development.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a patient and empathetic approach.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and follow instructions.
- Reliable, punctual, and committed to providing high-quality care.
- A positive attitude and a proactive approach to learning.
- Basic understanding of safeguarding and child protection principles (training will be provided).
Preferred Qualifications
- GCSEs in English and Maths (or equivalent) at grade C/4 or above.
- Previous voluntary experience with children (e.g., babysitting, youth clubs, school placements).
- Current Paediatric First Aid qualification (or willingness to undertake training).
- Knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework.
- Willingness to undertake an NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Childcare upon starting.
