Job Description

Career.supersecrets is actively seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join our dedicated team in Welkom, Free State. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the lead teacher in planning and preparing engaging lesson materials and classroom activities.
  • Provide individualized and small-group support to students, helping them understand concepts and complete assignments.
  • Supervise students during classroom activities, playtime, lunch breaks, and excursions, ensuring their safety and well-being.
  • Help maintain a tidy, organized, and stimulating classroom environment conducive to learning.
  • Monitor student progress and behavior, reporting observations to the lead teacher.
  • Assist with administrative tasks such as grading papers, record-keeping, and preparing classroom displays.
  • Foster positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Support the implementation of school policies and procedures, including those related to discipline and student welfare.
  • Participate in staff meetings, professional development workshops, and school events as required.

Required Skills

  • Grade 12 (Matric) certificate or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 6 months' demonstrable experience working with children in an educational or childcare setting.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport with students, parents, and staff.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine love for working with children.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Proactive and adaptable approach to daily tasks and unexpected situations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Relevant certificate or diploma in Education, Early Childhood Development, or a related field.
  • Experience in a private school environment.
  • Knowledge of basic first aid and CPR certification.
  • Familiarity with various teaching methodologies and educational software.
  • Ability to assist students with diverse learning needs.
