Key Responsibilities
- Prepare samples and reagents accurately according to established protocols and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Perform routine laboratory tests and analyses under the supervision of senior researchers.
- Maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment, ensuring proper functionality and cleanliness.
- Accurately record and document experimental data, observations, and results in laboratory notebooks and digital systems.
- Assist in the setup and breakdown of experimental apparatus for various research projects.
- Adhere strictly to all laboratory safety regulations and Good Laboratory Practices (GLP).
- Manage laboratory inventory, including ordering and stocking supplies, and ensuring proper storage.
- Process and dispose of hazardous and non-hazardous waste in accordance with environmental guidelines.
- Collaborate effectively with team members, sharing findings and contributing to problem-solving discussions.
- Participate in ongoing training and development activities to enhance technical skills and knowledge.
Required Skills
- Basic knowledge of laboratory techniques and procedures (e.g., pipetting, sterile technique, solution preparation).
- Proficiency in using common laboratory equipment (e.g., centrifuges, pH meters, balances).
- Strong attention to detail and meticulous record-keeping abilities.
- Ability to follow instructions precisely and adhere to safety protocols.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Basic computer literacy (Microsoft Office Suite, data entry).
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- A Bachelor's degree or HND in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology, Microbiology, Biotechnology, or a related scientific field.
