Key Responsibilities
- Install, maintain, and repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures in residential, commercial, and industrial settings.
- Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair, ensuring compliance with standards.
- Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components using advanced test equipment and hand tools to accurately locate the cause of a breakdown and implement effective corrective measures.
- Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, outlets, and other electrical components with precision and adherence to safety protocols.
- Plan layout and installation of electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures, based on detailed job specifications, architectural drawings, and local electrical codes.
- Work efficiently from blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams to execute projects accurately.
- Adhere strictly to all national and local safety regulations, including the National Electrical Code (NEC) or equivalent Nigerian standards, and company safety policies.
- Collaborate effectively with other construction professionals, including civil engineers, plumbers, and carpenters, to ensure seamless project execution, adherence to timelines, and exceptional quality standards.
- Provide accurate estimates for labor, materials, and equipment required for electrical projects, as requested.
- Train and mentor junior electricians or apprentices, sharing knowledge and promoting best practices within the team.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in installing, troubleshooting, and maintaining various electrical systems and components.
- Strong knowledge of electrical safety procedures, regulations, and hazard prevention.
- Ability to read, interpret, and work confidently with blueprints, schematics, and complex electrical diagrams.
- Competency in using a range of electrical testing equipment, including multimeters, circuit testers, oscilloscopes, and insulation resistance testers.
- Excellent analytical, diagnostic, and problem-solving skills for identifying and resolving electrical issues efficiently.
- Physical dexterity, strength, and stamina for manual tasks, including lifting, climbing, and working in confined spaces.
- Valid Electrician's license or certification recognized within Nigeria (e.g., from a relevant trade association or government body).
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills for effective collaboration with colleagues and clients.
Preferred Qualifications
- Vocational training certificate or a technical degree in Electrical Engineering/Technology from an accredited institution.
- Extensive experience working on both residential and large-scale commercial/industrial electrical projects.
- Familiarity with modern smart home technologies, energy-efficient electrical systems, and renewable energy integration.
- Current First Aid and CPR certification.
- In-depth knowledge of local building codes and specific electrical regulations pertinent to Imo State, Nigeria.
