Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough patient examinations, accurately diagnose medical conditions, and formulate effective treatment plans.
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests, including laboratory analyses and imaging studies.
  • Prescribe medications, administer treatments, and perform minor surgical procedures when necessary.
  • Provide urgent and emergency medical care, stabilizing patients and coordinating transfers when required.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential patient medical records, ensuring compliance with data protection regulations.
  • Educate patients and their families on health management, disease prevention, and healthy lifestyle choices.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, including nurses, specialists, and support staff, to ensure holistic patient care.
  • Participate in community health initiatives and public health campaigns.
  • Adhere strictly to medical ethics, professional standards, and relevant healthcare policies and regulations.
  • Engage in continuous professional development activities and ongoing medical education.

Required Skills

  • Medical Doctor (MBBS/MBBCh) degree from a recognized institution.
  • Full registration and current practicing license with the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN).
  • Completion of the mandatory National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) program.
  • Demonstrated strong clinical diagnostic and patient management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with empathy and compassion.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Proficiency in basic life support and emergency medical procedures.
  • Sound knowledge of medical ethics and patient confidentiality.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Post-NYSC clinical experience of at least 2 years in a hospital or primary healthcare setting.
  • Additional certifications in specialized medical fields (e.g., ACLS, PALS).
  • Experience working in a community-focused healthcare environment.
  • Fluency in Igbo language is an advantage.
