Career.supersecrets is actively seeking highly skilled and dedicated Masons to join our esteemed network of construction partners across Umm Al Quwain City. We are looking for individuals with a meticulous eye for detail, a strong commitment to quality craftsmanship, and a proven background in various masonry techniques. In this critical role, you will be responsible for constructing, maintaining, and repairing structural elements using a variety of materials including bricks, concrete blocks, and natural stone. Your expertise will be vital in ensuring projects meet stringent architectural specifications, safety standards, and project deadlines.
This is a hands-on position requiring proficiency in interpreting blueprints, accurately measuring and cutting materials, and skillfully applying mortar and other bonding agents. You will work on diverse projects ranging from large-scale commercial developments and residential complexes to vital public infrastructure. Collaboration within a dynamic construction team, adherence to site safety protocols, and maintaining a high standard of work are paramount. Key Responsibilities
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine layout and dimensions.
- Lay bricks, concrete blocks, stone, and other masonry units in mortar to construct or repair walls, foundations, partitions, arches, and other structures.
- Mix mortar, grout, and concrete to specified consistencies, ensuring proper ratios and curing.
- Cut and trim materials to fit, using hand and power tools such as brick hammers, chisels, saws, and grinders.
- Ensure accurate alignment, spacing, and leveling of all masonry units for structural integrity and aesthetic appeal.
- Erect and dismantle scaffolding as required, ensuring compliance with safety standards and best practices.
- Clean and prepare surfaces for masonry work, removing debris, old mortar, and ensuring a stable base.
- Perform tuckpointing, caulking, and other finishing activities to complete masonry surfaces and joints.
- Adhere strictly to all health and safety regulations and procedures on site to maintain a safe working environment.
- Collaborate effectively with other construction team members, including supervisors, carpenters, and laborers.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring tools and equipment are properly stored and cared for.
Required Skills
- Proven expertise in various masonry techniques, including bricklaying, blocklaying, and stonework.
- Ability to read and accurately interpret blueprints, schematics, and construction drawings.
- Proficiency in using a wide range of masonry tools and equipment (trowels, levels, mixers, saws, etc.).
- Strong understanding of mortar and concrete mixing ratios, applications, and curing processes.
- Excellent physical stamina, manual dexterity, and hand-eye coordination.
- Keen eye for detail and precision in all aspects of work to ensure high-quality finishes.
- Unwavering commitment to safety standards and practices on construction sites.
- Good communication skills and ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Problem-solving abilities to address challenges and adjustments during construction.
Preferred Qualifications
- Vocational training, technical diploma, or apprenticeship completion in masonry.
- Certification in relevant construction safety courses (e.g., local UAE safety standards).
- Experience with different types of stone masonry (e.g., natural stone, cultured stone, veneers).
- Knowledge of plastering and tiling techniques, or related finishing trades.
- Ability to operate heavy machinery such as forklifts or loaders (an advantageous skill).
- Valid UAE driving license.
