Key Responsibilities
- Supervise all on-site construction activities, ensuring adherence to project plans, specifications, and quality standards.
- Manage daily site operations, including scheduling, resource allocation, and progress monitoring.
- Implement and enforce strict health, safety, and environmental (HSE) policies and procedures.
- Coordinate and liaise with architects, engineers, subcontractors, and other stakeholders.
- Conduct regular site inspections to ensure work is proceeding safely and efficiently.
- Identify and resolve construction-related issues, escalating complex problems to project management as necessary.
- Prepare daily and weekly progress reports, including labor, materials, and equipment usage.
- Mentor and manage site personnel, fostering a productive and cohesive team environment.
- Oversee the quality control process for all installed materials and workmanship.
- Ensure timely delivery of materials and equipment to maintain project schedules.
- Manage site logistics and temporary facilities, including accommodation and meal arrangements for the team.
Required Skills
- Proven experience (minimum 5 years) as a Construction Supervisor or similar role in building projects.
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and relevant legal regulations in Nigeria.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to manage diverse teams.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and detailed construction drawings proficiently.
- Proficiency in project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera) is a distinct advantage.
- Demonstrated ability to manage project budgets and timelines effectively, ensuring cost and schedule adherence.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel to various job sites across Lagos as required.
- Robust problem-solving and decision-making capabilities under pressure.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or Higher National Diploma (HND) in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a closely related field.
- Professional certification (e.g., COREN, CORBON, PMP, OSHA) is highly desirable.
- First Aid/CPR certification and advanced knowledge of site safety protocols.
- Experience with sustainable building practices or green construction initiatives.
- Track record of successfully managing projects valued over NGN 500 million.
