Key Responsibilities
- Assist skilled tradesmen, such as carpenters, bricklayers, and plumbers, with various on-site tasks.
- Load, unload, and transport construction materials, tools, and equipment safely across the site.
- Prepare construction sites by cleaning debris, trash, and hazardous materials to maintain a safe environment.
- Perform manual labour tasks including digging trenches, compacting earth, and filling excavations.
- Operate basic hand and power tools under direct supervision.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the construction site on an ongoing basis.
- Strictly adhere to all company and site-specific safety regulations and procedures.
- Assist with the erection and dismantling of temporary structures like scaffolding and barriers.
- Support concrete mixing, pouring, and finishing activities as required.
- Perform other general labour duties as assigned by the site supervisor.
Required Skills
- Demonstrated physical strength and stamina to perform demanding manual tasks.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions accurately and consistently.
- Possess a strong work ethic, punctuality, and reliability.
- Eagerness and willingness to learn new construction skills and adapt to various tasks.
- Basic understanding of, or commitment to learn, construction site safety protocols.
- Excellent teamwork and effective communication skills.
- Must be legally authorized to work in South Africa.
- No specific educational qualifications or prior experience are required; a positive attitude and aptitude are highly valued.
Preferred Qualifications
- Any previous experience in a physically demanding role or outdoor work environment.
- A valid Code 8/B driver's license (or equivalent) would be an advantage.
- Basic First Aid certification or willingness to obtain one.
- Familiarity with common construction site tools and equipment.
