Career.supersecrets is seeking a diligent and motivated Laundry Helper to join the dedicated team at one of our prestigious hotel partners located in Alapere, Lagos. Your responsibilities will span the entire laundry cycle, from sorting soiled items to operating washing and drying machinery, and finally, folding and preparing clean linen for distribution. We are looking for someone with a strong work ethic, keen attention to detail, and the physical stamina required to handle the demands of a busy hotel laundry operation. Key Responsibilities
- Sort and categorize soiled laundry items, including linens, towels, uniforms, and guest clothing, according to fabric type, color, and cleaning requirements.
- Operate and monitor commercial washing machines, dryers, and ironing equipment, ensuring proper settings and cycles are selected for optimal cleaning and care.
- Load and unload laundry efficiently and safely, following established procedures and safety guidelines.
- Fold, press, and neatly stack clean linens, towels, and uniforms, preparing them for storage or distribution to various hotel departments.
- Inspect all items for stains, damage, or wear, reporting any issues to the Laundry Supervisor for appropriate action.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment within the laundry facility, including regular cleaning of equipment and work surfaces.
- Adhere strictly to all hotel policies, procedures, and safety regulations, particularly concerning chemical handling and machinery operation.
- Assist with inventory counts and tracking of linen stock as required.
- Collaborate effectively with other laundry and housekeeping team members to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
- Handle guest laundry requests with care and discretion, ensuring timely and accurate processing.
Required Skills
- Physical stamina and ability to lift and move heavy laundry bags (up to 25 kg)
- Strong attention to detail and ability to identify quality issues in linen
- Ability to follow instructions accurately and work independently or as part of a team
- Basic understanding of health and safety guidelines in a workplace environment
- Good time management skills to ensure efficient processing of laundry
- Reliability and a strong work ethic
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience (e.g., 6 months) in a hotel, commercial laundry, or similar service environment
- Familiarity with various fabric types and their appropriate care instructions
- Knowledge of operating industrial laundry equipment
