Job Description

Career.supersecrets is thrilled to be partnering with a prestigious and historic theatre located in the heart of London’s world-renowned West End, to recruit an exceptional Theatre Manager. This is an outstanding opportunity for a seasoned professional to lead the operational excellence and enhance the patron experience at one of the city’s most beloved cultural landmarks. The Theatre Manager will be the lynchpin of daily operations, ensuring the seamless execution of performances, events, and the overall management of the venue. You will be responsible for upholding the highest standards of safety, service, and artistic integrity.

This role demands a dynamic individual with a deep passion for live theatre, coupled with robust operational and people management skills. You will oversee all aspects of front-of-house, box office, facilities management, and staffing, fostering a positive and inclusive environment for both patrons and employees. Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee all front-of-house operations, ensuring exceptional customer service and a welcoming atmosphere for all patrons.
  • Manage and motivate a diverse team, including ushers, box office staff, and facility personnel, fostering a culture of excellence and teamwork.
  • Ensure compliance with all health, safety, fire, and licensing regulations, conducting regular inspections and drills.
  • Manage venue facilities, maintenance, and cleanliness, coordinating with external contractors as required.
  • Oversee financial aspects of operations, including cash handling, budgeting for FOH expenditure, and stock control.
  • Develop and implement operational policies and procedures to enhance efficiency and customer experience.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for emergency situations and manage crowd control effectively.
  • Collaborate with production teams, marketing, and artistic departments to ensure smooth event delivery.
  • Recruit, train, and appraise front-of-house staff, promoting professional development.
  • Handle customer complaints and feedback professionally and efficiently, resolving issues to ensure satisfaction.
  • Contribute to the strategic planning for venue development and audience engagement initiatives.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in a management role within a theatre or live entertainment venue.
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities, with a track record of motivating and developing staff.
  • Excellent understanding of health, safety, and licensing regulations applicable to public venues.
  • Exceptional customer service and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Demonstrable financial acumen, including budgeting and cash management.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as dictated by performance schedules.
  • Proficiency in operational planning and problem-solving under pressure.
  • IT literacy, including experience with ticketing systems and standard office software.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Degree or equivalent qualification in Arts Management, Hospitality, or a related field.
  • First Aid at Work certification.
  • Personal Licence Holder for alcohol sales.
  • Experience with P&L management and reporting.
  • Strong network within the London theatre community.
  • A keen interest in diverse theatrical productions and performing arts.
