Career.supersecrets is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Full-Time Gardener for Estate Maintenance to join our client’s prestigious private estate in Kempton Park, Gauteng. This is an exceptional opportunity for an individual with a profound love for nature and a meticulous approach to garden care. As a key member of the estate maintenance team, you will be responsible for ensuring the property’s expansive gardens, lawns, and green spaces are maintained to an impeccable standard, reflecting the elegance and tranquility of the estate.
The ideal candidate will possess a comprehensive understanding of horticultural practices, including plant identification, soil management, irrigation systems, pest control, and seasonal planting. Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine garden maintenance tasks including mowing, weeding, pruning, hedge trimming, and leaf blowing.
- Plant, cultivate, fertilize, and water flowers, shrubs, trees, and other plants.
- Monitor plant health, diagnose issues, and apply appropriate treatments for pests and diseases using environmentally sound practices.
- Maintain and troubleshoot irrigation systems, ensuring efficient water usage.
- Prepare garden beds for seasonal planting and contribute to landscape design improvements.
- Operate and maintain a variety of gardening tools and machinery safely and effectively, including lawnmowers, trimmers, blowers, and chainsaws.
- Ensure the cleanliness and tidiness of all garden areas, pathways, and outdoor structures.
- Compost organic waste and implement sustainable gardening practices.
- Adhere to all health and safety regulations on the estate.
- Assist with general estate outdoor maintenance as required.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Gardener or Landscaper, preferably within an estate or large property setting.
- Solid knowledge of horticulture, including plant species, soil types, and seasonal care.
- Proficiency in operating and maintaining gardening equipment and tools.
- Strong understanding of pest and disease control methods.
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to high-quality workmanship.
- Reliable, punctual, and possessing a strong work ethic.
- Valid South African driver's license.
