Job Description

We are seeking a highly diligent and experienced Quality Control Inspector to join a reputable manufacturing client in Preston, Lancashire. This pivotal role involves ensuring that all products meet stringent quality standards and specifications before reaching our customers. The successful candidate will be instrumental in upholding our client’s commitment to excellence and continuous improvement. You will be responsible for performing detailed inspections at various stages of the production process, identifying non-conformities, and working collaboratively with production teams to implement corrective actions. Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough visual and dimensional inspections of incoming materials, in-process components, and finished products against engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Utilize precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, gauges, and CMM equipment to verify product compliance.
  • Document inspection results accurately, maintaining detailed records of acceptable and defective products, and creating non-conformance reports when necessary.
  • Identify, isolate, and report defective materials or products, collaborating with production and engineering teams to investigate root causes and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Perform first-off and final inspection checks on manufactured goods, ensuring adherence to quality standards throughout the production cycle.
  • Participate in the calibration and maintenance of inspection equipment to ensure accuracy and reliability.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of quality control processes and procedures.
  • Adhere strictly to all health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures within the manufacturing facility.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience as a Quality Control Inspector in a manufacturing environment (minimum 2 years).
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications.
  • Competence in using a wide range of measuring equipment (calipers, micrometers, gauges, CMM).
  • Strong understanding of quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001).
  • Excellent attention to detail and a methodical approach to problem-solving.
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal, for effective reporting and collaboration.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Relevant vocational qualification or apprenticeship in engineering or manufacturing.
  • Experience with statistical process control (SPC) techniques.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles.
  • Familiarity with specific industry standards relevant to the manufacturing sector (e.g., aerospace, automotive, food).
