Key Responsibilities
- Prepare surfaces thoroughly for painting and decorating, including cleaning, sanding, patching, and priming.
- Apply paint, varnish, wallpaper, and other finishes to various surfaces using brushes, rollers, and spray equipment.
- Mix and match paints, stains, and varnishes to achieve desired colours and textures, ensuring consistency across projects.
- Erect and dismantle scaffolding and ladders in a safe manner, adhering to all safety regulations.
- Protect surrounding areas and furniture from paint splatter and damage using drop cloths and masking tape.
- Inspect work areas and finished products for quality and adherence to specifications and client expectations.
- Maintain and clean tools, equipment, and work areas regularly.
- Collaborate with other construction professionals, including carpenters, plasterers, and project managers, to ensure smooth project progression.
- Estimate material quantities and project timelines accurately.
- Adhere strictly to health and safety guidelines and company policies at all times.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Construction Painter or Decorator.
- Excellent knowledge of painting material, surface preparation techniques, and application methods.
- Proficiency in using various painting tools and equipment (brushes, rollers, sprayers, etc.).
- Strong understanding of colour theory and aesthetic principles.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively to meet deadlines.
- Physical stamina and dexterity to perform manual tasks, including lifting, climbing, and standing for extended periods.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transport.
