Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Civil Construction Engineer to join our client’s dynamic project team, overseeing a significant building site in Ikosi, Kosofe. This pivotal role requires a hands-on individual with a strong understanding of civil engineering principles, construction methodologies, and project management. As an on-site Engineer, you will be instrumental in ensuring the successful execution of construction projects from ground-breaking to completion, adhering strictly to design specifications, quality standards, safety regulations, and project timelines. You will be the technical lead on the ground, responsible for translating architectural and engineering designs into tangible structures, coordinating various trades, and managing daily site operations.

Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage daily civil construction activities on the building site, ensuring projects are completed according to design specifications, budget, and schedule.
- Supervise and coordinate the activities of site personnel, subcontractors, and suppliers, ensuring efficient resource allocation and productivity.
- Conduct regular site inspections to monitor progress, quality of workmanship, and adherence to safety protocols and environmental regulations.
- Interpret blueprints, schematics, and construction drawings to provide clear guidance to the site team.
- Identify and resolve technical and logistical issues that arise during construction, proposing effective and timely solutions.
- Prepare detailed progress reports, daily logs, material requisitions, and other necessary documentation for project management.
- Collaborate effectively with architects, consultants, clients, and regulatory bodies to ensure smooth project execution and compliance.
- Implement and enforce quality control procedures to ensure all work meets the highest industry standards.
- Manage site safety, conduct toolbox talks, and ensure all personnel comply with health and safety policies and procedures.
- Assist in the preparation of cost estimates, project proposals, and procurement processes.
- Ensure proper maintenance and calibration of site equipment and machinery.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in civil construction, specifically on building sites.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Project).
- Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and quality control procedures.
- Excellent project management, organizational, and time-management skills.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate a diverse construction team.
- Exceptional problem-solving and decision-making capabilities under pressure.
- Sound knowledge of Nigerian building codes, standards, and safety regulations.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Registration with the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN).
- Master's Degree in Structural Engineering or Construction Management.
- Experience with project management software such as Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project.
- Possession of relevant health and safety certifications (e.g., OSHA, NEBOSH).
- Previous experience working on large-scale commercial or residential building projects.
