As a Scaffolder’s Assistant, you will play a crucial support role in ensuring the efficient and safe erection and dismantling of scaffolding structures. Your day-to-day will involve assisting scaffolders with material handling, maintaining a tidy and safe working environment, and following strict safety protocols. This role demands a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively as part of a close-knit team. Key Responsibilities
- Assist qualified scaffolders with the loading, unloading, and movement of scaffolding equipment and materials (tubes, fittings, boards) on and off vehicles and around the construction site.
- Pass tools and materials to scaffolders working at height.
- Ensure the worksite is kept clean, tidy, and free from obstructions to maintain a safe working environment.
- Adhere strictly to all health and safety regulations, company policies, and site-specific rules.
- Follow instructions from lead scaffolders and site supervisors accurately and efficiently.
- Prepare ground surfaces and lay out scaffolding components according to plans and instructions.
- Report any potential hazards or safety concerns to the supervisor immediately.
- Contribute to a positive and cooperative team atmosphere.
Required Skills
- Strong physical fitness and stamina for manual handling and working outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Ability to follow instructions meticulously and work effectively within a team.
- Basic understanding of construction site safety awareness.
- Eagerness to learn the scaffolding trade and develop new skills.
- Good communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Valid CSCS Card (Construction Skills Certification Scheme).
- Previous experience working on a construction site, even in a general labouring capacity.
- Full UK driving license.
- Awareness of scaffolding components and terminology.
