Key Responsibilities
- Conduct regular patrols of designated areas, both internal and external, to prevent and detect signs of intrusion, damage, or other hazards.
- Monitor surveillance equipment, including CCTV cameras and alarm systems, promptly responding to any alerts or suspicious activities.
- Control access to the premises, verifying credentials for entry and managing visitor logs meticulously.
- Respond effectively to emergency situations, including medical emergencies, fire alarms, and security breaches, coordinating with emergency services as required.
- Prepare detailed incident reports, daily activity logs, and maintain accurate records of all security-related occurrences.
- Enforce company policies and procedures related to security, health, and safety, ensuring compliance from all personnel and visitors.
- Provide excellent customer service and assistance to staff, visitors, and contractors, maintaining a professional and approachable demeanour.
- Conduct security checks on vehicles and packages entering and exiting the premises, as per established protocols.
Required Skills
- Valid SIA (Security Industry Authority) Door Supervisor or Security Guarding License.
- Proven ability to maintain composure and respond effectively in high-pressure situations.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, for reporting and interacting with diverse individuals.
- Strong observational skills and attention to detail to identify potential security threats.
- Basic IT literacy for operating surveillance systems and digital reporting tools.
- A solid understanding of security protocols and emergency procedures.
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in a security guard role.
- First Aid at Work certification.
- Experience with access control systems and alarm monitoring software.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Knowledge of local safety and security regulations in Reading, Berkshire.
