Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated, reliable, and experienced Driver to join our dynamic logistics and delivery team in Asokoro, Abuja. As a Driver for GIG Logistics, you will be a critical part of our operations, responsible for the safe, timely, and efficient transportation and delivery of goods, parcels, and documents using a company-provided vehicle. This role requires not only excellent driving skills but also a strong commitment to customer service, attention to detail, and adherence to all traffic regulations and company policies. You will represent GIG Logistics on the road, ensuring that every interaction and delivery reflects our brand’s professionalism and commitment to excellence. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of Abuja’s road network, demonstrate impeccable driving records, and be proficient in basic vehicle maintenance checks. Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate company-provided vehicles for the transportation and delivery of goods, parcels, and documents within Asokoro, Abuja, and surrounding areas.
- Plan and execute efficient delivery routes to ensure timely and cost-effective services.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles, ensuring they are in optimal working condition; report any mechanical issues promptly.
- Load and unload goods carefully, ensuring proper handling and securing of items to prevent damage during transit.
- Maintain accurate delivery logs, records of mileage, fuel consumption, and delivery confirmations.
- Provide exceptional customer service during pickups and deliveries, addressing client inquiries professionally and courteously.
- Adhere strictly to all traffic laws, road safety regulations, and company driving policies.
- Handle cash payments and electronic transactions accurately when required, ensuring proper documentation.
- Keep the company vehicle clean and well-maintained at all times.
- Collaborate effectively with the dispatch and operations team to optimize delivery schedules and resolve unforeseen challenges.
- Be punctual and reliable, ensuring all deliveries and pickups are executed as per schedule.
Required Skills
- Valid Nigerian Driver's License (Class E or G)
- Minimum of 2 years professional driving experience in a logistics or delivery role.
- Thorough knowledge of Abuja road networks and traffic regulations.
- Excellent defensive driving skills and a clean driving record.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to operate GPS devices and route optimization apps.
- Physical stamina to lift and move packages, sometimes heavy.
- Basic vehicle maintenance knowledge (e.g., checking oil, tire pressure, fluid levels).
- High level of integrity, punctuality, and responsibility.
Preferred Qualifications
- SSCE/GCE/NECO or higher education.
- Previous experience with a reputable logistics or courier company.
- Knowledge of customer service best practices.
- Ability to adapt to changing delivery schedules and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Familiarity with electronic Proof of Delivery (ePOD) systems.
