Key Responsibilities
- Prepare various surfaces (walls, ceilings, woodwork, metal) for painting, including cleaning, sanding, patching, and priming.
- Apply paint, varnish, stain, and other finishes using brushes, rollers, and spray equipment, ensuring smooth and consistent coverage.
- Mix and match paint colors according to specifications, paying close attention to detail and color theory.
- Interpret blueprints, schematics, and work orders to determine the scope of work and required materials.
- Erect and dismantle scaffolding or use ladders safely, following all safety guidelines.
- Perform decorative painting techniques such as faux finishes, stenciling, or texture application as required by project specifications.
- Protect surrounding areas with drop cloths and masking tape to prevent paint splatters and damage.
- Maintain and clean painting tools and equipment to ensure longevity and optimal performance.
- Adhere strictly to all health, safety, and environmental regulations on site.
- Collaborate effectively with other construction trades and project management to ensure timely project completion.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Construction Painter or Decorator, specifically in a project-based environment.
- Excellent knowledge of painting materials, tools, and techniques.
- Proficiency in surface preparation, including sanding, patching, priming, and waterproofing.
- Ability to mix colors accurately and achieve desired finishes.
- Strong attention to detail and a keen eye for aesthetics and quality.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Physical stamina and ability to work at heights and lift heavy equipment.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to various job sites.
