Life Hospital Abuja is actively seeking a highly motivated, compassionate, and experienced Medical Doctor to join our dynamic professional team. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough patient histories, comprehensive physical examinations, and accurate diagnostic assessments.
- Diagnose and treat a wide range of medical conditions in line with established clinical guidelines and best practices.
- Order, interpret, and critically act upon diagnostic tests, including laboratory results and advanced imaging studies.
- Develop, implement, and monitor evidence-based treatment plans, ensuring optimal patient outcomes and safety.
- Prescribe medications and other therapeutic interventions, carefully monitoring for efficacy and potential adverse reactions.
- Provide immediate emergency medical care and expertly stabilize critically ill patients as required.
- Perform minor surgical procedures, wound care, and other clinical interventions when appropriate and within scope of practice.
- Document all patient interactions, diagnoses, treatments, and future plans accurately, comprehensively, and promptly in electronic health records.
- Collaborate effectively and professionally with interdisciplinary teams, including nurses, specialist consultants, and support staff, to ensure holistic patient care.
- Educate patients and their families on health conditions, available treatment options, preventative care measures, and lifestyle modifications.
- Actively participate in ward rounds, clinical meetings, morbidity and mortality conferences, and continuous professional development activities.
- Adhere strictly to all hospital policies, procedures, ethical guidelines, and regulatory standards of medical practice.
- Contribute proactively to quality improvement initiatives, patient safety protocols, and clinical research projects.
Required Skills
- Possession of an MBBS/MBChB degree from a recognized institution.
- Full registration and current practicing license with the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN).
- Proven clinical experience of at least 3 years post-NYSC/Housemanship, preferably in a reputable hospital setting.
- Strong diagnostic reasoning, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with demonstrated empathy and cultural sensitivity.
- Proficiency in medical documentation and experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Ability to perform effectively and maintain composure under pressure in a fast-paced clinical environment.
- Sound knowledge of medical ethics, patient confidentiality, and medico-legal aspects of practice.
- Up-to-date knowledge of current medical practices, treatments, and national/international clinical guidelines.
- Ability to efficiently manage a diverse and demanding patient load.
- Effective team player with the capacity to collaborate respectfully across various medical disciplines.
Preferred Qualifications
- Postgraduate qualification (e.g., Fellowship, Masters) in a relevant medical specialty (e.g., Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Emergency Medicine).
- Demonstrated experience in a sub-specialty area.
- Active participation in medical research, clinical audits, or relevant publications.
- Prior leadership or supervisory experience in a clinical setting.
- Proficiency in additional local languages relevant to the Abuja community (e.g., Hausa, Igbo, Yoruba).
