Are you passionate about fostering safe, engaging, and compliant online communities? Altron Karabina is seeking a dedicated and vigilant Remote Content Moderator to join our growing team. In this pivotal role, you will be instrumental in upholding our brand’s reputation and ensuring a positive user experience across various online platforms we manage for our clients. This is more than just reviewing content; it’s about being the guardian of our digital spaces, ensuring adherence to community guidelines, ethical standards, and legal requirements.

Working remotely from Emalahleni, Mpumalanga, you will play a critical role in maintaining the integrity of digital interactions, identifying and addressing inappropriate content, and providing insights that contribute to platform improvement. We are looking for an individual with a keen eye for detail, strong ethical judgment, and an ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment. Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor user-generated content across various online platforms (social media, forums, comment sections, review sites) to ensure compliance with company guidelines, terms of service, and legal standards.
  • Proactively identify and remove or flag content that violates policies, including but not limited to hate speech, harassment, misinformation, explicit material, and spam.
  • Respond to user reports and complaints regarding inappropriate content, taking swift and appropriate action.
  • Maintain detailed records of content moderation activities, decisions, and outcomes.
  • Collaborate with internal teams (e.g., customer support, legal, product development) to address complex content issues and contribute to policy refinements.
  • Stay informed about current online trends, emerging content types, and potential risks to online communities.
  • Provide constructive feedback and insights to improve moderation tools, processes, and platform features.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of community guidelines and moderation best practices.
  • Handle sensitive and potentially disturbing content with professionalism and resilience.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 18 months of experience in content moderation, community management, or a related field.
  • Excellent understanding of online community dynamics and social media platforms.
  • Strong analytical skills with an exceptional eye for detail and pattern recognition.
  • Impeccable ethical judgment and integrity, with the ability to make impartial decisions.
  • Proficiency in using content moderation tools and platforms.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a remote work environment.
  • High level of digital literacy and comfort with various software applications.
  • Resilience and ability to handle exposure to potentially graphic or offensive content.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's degree in Communications, Media Studies, IT, or a related field.
  • Experience with specific industry guidelines or regulatory frameworks (e.g., advertising standards, data privacy).
  • Familiarity with AI/ML-driven moderation tools and techniques.
  • Ability to speak an additional South African official language.
  • Prior experience working remotely.
