Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate company vehicles (vans, trucks) to transport goods to designated locations within Lagos and surrounding areas.
- Perform timely pick-ups and deliveries, ensuring all items are accounted for and secured appropriately.
- Conduct daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles to ensure they are in optimal working condition; report any mechanical issues promptly.
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries, including mileage, fuel consumption, delivery times, and client signatures.
- Adhere strictly to all traffic laws, company safety policies, and transportation regulations.
- Provide excellent customer service during interactions with clients, representing GIG Logistics professionally.
- Assist with loading and unloading packages as needed, ensuring proper handling of goods.
- Plan and optimize routes using navigation tools and local knowledge to ensure efficient and timely deliveries.
- Ensure cleanliness and maintenance of the vehicle interior and exterior.
- Manage delivery documentation and collect payments when necessary.
Required Skills
- Valid Nigerian Driver’s License (Class E or F preferred for commercial vehicles)
- Minimum of 2 years of professional driving experience in a logistics or commercial setting
- Clean driving record with no history of serious traffic violations
- In-depth knowledge of Lagos road networks and traffic patterns
- Ability to perform basic vehicle maintenance checks and troubleshooting
- Excellent time management and organizational skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Physical stamina to lift and move packages as required
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Preferred Qualifications
- SSCE or equivalent educational qualification
- Defensive driving certification
- Experience with GPS and navigation software
- Familiarity with various types of delivery vehicles (e.g., vans, light trucks)
- Basic computer literacy for record-keeping
