Job Description
Flour Mills of Nigeria Plc is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Transportation Network Planner to join our dynamic logistics team in Apapa, Lagos. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the efficient planning and optimization of our transportation network, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery of goods throughout Nigeria. This role requires a deep understanding of transportation management systems, route optimization techniques, and supply chain principles. You will play a critical role in improving our logistical efficiency, reducing transportation costs, and enhancing overall supply chain performance. This position requires a highly analytical individual with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively with various departments, including procurement, production, and distribution. The candidate must be proficient in using transportation management software and data analysis tools to monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and identify areas for improvement. A strong understanding of Nigerian road networks and logistics regulations is also essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement optimal transportation plans and routes, considering factors such as distance, time, cost, and traffic conditions.
- Utilize transportation management software and other tools to track shipments, monitor KPIs, and identify areas for improvement.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure alignment between transportation plans and overall business objectives.
- Analyze transportation data to identify trends and opportunities for cost reduction and efficiency gains.
- Negotiate rates and contracts with carriers, ensuring favorable terms and conditions.
- Monitor carrier performance and manage relationships to maintain service quality.
- Develop and maintain transportation budgets and forecasts.
- Stay abreast of industry best practices and regulatory changes related to transportation and logistics.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of new transportation technologies and strategies.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in transportation management software (e.g., TMS, GIS)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience in route optimization and network planning
- Knowledge of supply chain principles and logistics processes
- Data analysis skills (Excel, SQL, etc.)

Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Transportation Planning, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field
- 5+ years of experience in transportation planning or a related field
- Experience in the food and beverage industry is a plus
- Master's degree in a related field
