Julius Berger Nigeria Plc is seeking a highly skilled, experienced, and professional Plumber to join our dedicated Building Maintenance team in Suleja, Abuja. This pivotal role involves the comprehensive maintenance, repair, and installation of plumbing systems across our diverse portfolio of buildings and infrastructure within the region. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of plumbing principles, local and international codes, and stringent safety regulations, coupled with a proven track record of delivering high-quality workmanship in commercial, industrial, or large-scale residential settings. You will be directly responsible for ensuring the efficient, reliable, and safe operation of water supply, drainage, sewage, and heating systems, thereby contributing directly to the comfort, safety, and operational efficiency of our state-of-the-art facilities. This position requires a proactive, meticulous problem-solver, adept at diagnosing complex plumbing issues, executing precise and durable repairs, and implementing effective preventative maintenance strategies. Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine inspections, comprehensive preventative maintenance, and timely repairs on all plumbing systems, including water supply lines, drainage systems, sewage networks, hot water systems, and various plumbing fixtures.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot complex plumbing issues efficiently, accurately identify root causes, and implement effective, long-lasting solutions that meet industry standards.
- Install, repair, and replace a wide range of pipes, fittings, valves, water heaters, pumps, water treatment systems, and other plumbing components using appropriate tools, materials, and advanced techniques.
- Interpret complex blueprints, schematics, and detailed plumbing diagrams to ensure accurate installation, precise repair work, and efficient system modifications.
- Ensure all plumbing work strictly complies with national and local building codes, safety regulations, environmental standards, and company-specific quality guidelines.
- Conduct thorough leak detection and repair, execute pipe thawing procedures, and perform professional drain cleaning as required using specialized equipment.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of all maintenance and repair activities, including parts used, labor hours, and any necessary recommendations.
- Collaborate effectively with other maintenance staff (e.g., electricians, HVAC technicians, civil engineers) to coordinate complex repairs, system upgrades, and larger maintenance projects.
- Respond promptly to emergency plumbing calls, assess situations quickly, and provide effective, immediate solutions to minimize disruption to operations.
- Advise on potential system upgrades, efficiency improvements, and sustainable solutions to enhance plumbing system performance and reduce long-term operational costs.
- Adhere strictly to all company health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures, promoting a safe working culture at all times.
Required Skills
- Certified plumbing professional with a minimum of 4 years of proven experience in building maintenance, industrial plumbing, or large-scale commercial facilities.
- Strong, in-depth knowledge of plumbing systems, including water supply, drainage, sewage, and hot water systems, as well as an understanding of hydraulic principles.
- Proficiency in interpreting complex blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
- Expertise in various pipefitting techniques, including welding, soldering, brazing, and solvent welding.
- Familiarity with a wide range of plumbing materials (PPR, PVC, galvanized iron, copper, PEX) and advanced installation methods.
- Excellent diagnostic, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills for intricate plumbing challenges.
- Ability to work efficiently and effectively both independently and as an integral part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Strong commitment to safety protocols, quality workmanship, and continuous improvement.
- Good verbal and written communication skills, along with strong interpersonal abilities.
- Valid Nigerian driver's license with a clean driving record.
Preferred Qualifications
- Vocational training or relevant technical certifications from a recognized institution in plumbing or pipefitting.
