Key Responsibilities
- Provide person-centred care to residents, assisting with personal hygiene, dressing, mobility, and feeding, whilst promoting independence and dignity.
- Support residents with social and recreational activities, encouraging participation and engagement to enhance their well-being.
- Monitor and record residents' health and well-being, promptly reporting any changes or concerns to the senior care staff or nurse.
- Assist with the administration of medication under the direct supervision of a qualified nurse, strictly adhering to company policies and procedures.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date care plans and records, ensuring all documentation is completed thoroughly and confidentially.
- Foster a safe, clean, and comfortable living environment for all residents, adhering to health and safety and infection control guidelines.
- Communicate effectively and empathetically with residents, their families, and multidisciplinary team members.
- Participate in handover meetings and team discussions to ensure a seamless and coordinated approach to care.
- Act as a professional and respectful advocate for residents' rights and choices.
Required Skills
- NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent certified qualification)
- Demonstrable experience as a Healthcare Assistant, preferably in an elderly care setting
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a compassionate and patient approach
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently when required
- Strong understanding of person-centred care principles and maintaining dignity
- Reliability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic
- Basic IT proficiency for record-keeping
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with residents living with dementia
- First Aid certification
- Knowledge of safeguarding vulnerable adults procedures
