Job Description

We are actively seeking a highly driven, tenacious, and client-focused Corporate Sales Officer to enrich our dynamic Financial Services team, specifically based in our bustling Victoria Island, Lagos office. This is a professional role demanding a strategic thinker with a proven ability to identify and cultivate high-value corporate relationships. As a pivotal member of our sales force, you will be instrumental in driving significant business growth by not only acquiring new corporate clients but also by deepening existing relationships through an astute understanding of their financial ecosystems.

Your core mission will involve spearheading the entire sales lifecycle, from meticulous lead generation and qualification to crafting bespoke financial solutions and successfully closing deals. You will serve as a trusted advisor to our corporate clientele, leveraging Stanbic IBTC’s extensive suite of banking, investment, and wealth management products to address their diverse and evolving needs. This includes a broad spectrum of offerings such as corporate loans, trade finance, treasury services, cash management solutions, foreign exchange, and various investment banking instruments.

Success in this role requires more than just sales acumen; it demands a comprehensive understanding of the financial services landscape, exceptional analytical skills to interpret complex financial data, and the capability to articulate value propositions clearly and persuasively. You will be expected to continuously monitor market trends, competitive intelligence, and regulatory changes to proactively identify new opportunities and adapt sales strategies accordingly.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify, prospect, and acquire new corporate clients to expand the bank's market share in the financial services sector.
  • Develop and execute strategic sales plans to achieve and exceed set targets for various corporate banking and investment products.
  • Cultivate and nurture strong, long-lasting relationships with existing corporate clients, understanding their evolving financial needs.
  • Prepare comprehensive proposals, presentations, and pitches tailored to specific client requirements and industry segments.
  • Collaborate effectively with internal product, credit, legal, and operations teams to structure and deliver integrated financial solutions.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, market dynamics, competitor activities, and regulatory developments to inform sales strategies.
  • Conduct regular client visits, relationship reviews, and engagement activities to identify cross-selling and up-selling opportunities.
  • Manage the sales pipeline efficiently, ensuring timely follow-ups and accurate reporting of sales activities and forecasts.
  • Ensure strict adherence to all internal policies, compliance regulations, and ethical standards in all client interactions and transactions.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 3 years of proven corporate sales experience within the financial services industry.
  • Demonstrable understanding of corporate banking products, investment solutions, and financial markets.
  • Exceptional negotiation, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong ability to build and maintain robust client relationships at all levels.
  • Proficiency in CRM software and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Strategic thinking capabilities with a strong results-orientation and target achievement drive.
  • High level of integrity, professionalism, and ethical conduct.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to craft effective client solutions.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field.
  • Relevant professional certifications (e.g., CIS, CFA, ACI) are a significant advantage.
  • Experience working with a diverse portfolio of corporate clients across various industries (e.g., oil & gas, manufacturing, FMCG).
  • Deep knowledge of the Nigerian financial market and its regulatory landscape.
