Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Regional Account Manager to lead our FMCG distribution efforts within the vital Lagos Island region, with a specific focus on the bustling commercial hub of Tinubu Square and its surrounding markets. This is a pivotal role for a seasoned professional to not only nurture and expand existing key client relationships but also to proactively identify and secure new business opportunities, driving substantial sales growth for our diverse portfolio of consumer goods.

The successful candidate will be instrumental in developing and executing strategic sales plans tailored to the unique dynamics of the Lagos Island market. You will manage a comprehensive portfolio of accounts, which includes major wholesalers, modern trade outlets, and traditional market retailers, ensuring optimal product visibility, availability, and market penetration for all GB Foods brands. This role demands a proactive individual with a deep understanding of the Nigerian FMCG landscape, exceptional negotiation skills, and a proven track record of consistently exceeding sales targets in a competitive environment.

You will serve as the primary point of contact for your accounts, adeptly resolving issues, providing crucial market insights, and collaborating closely with internal teams such as marketing, supply chain, and finance to ensure seamless operations and unparalleled client satisfaction. Your expertise in managing complex distribution channels, optimizing logistics, and driving significant sales volumes will be critical in consolidating our market leadership and achieving ambitious growth objectives within this high-potential region. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute strategic account plans to achieve and surpass sales targets and expand market share within the assigned Lagos Island region.
  • Manage and grow strong relationships with key distributors, wholesalers, and retail chains (both modern trade and traditional markets).
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities, continuously expanding the client base for GB Foods' FMCG products.
  • Negotiate commercial agreements, pricing structures, and promotional activities to maximize profitability and sales volume.
  • Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and gather consumer insights to inform and adapt sales strategies effectively.
  • Ensure effective product distribution, merchandising standards, and optimal visibility across all assigned accounts.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with marketing, supply chain, and finance teams to ensure seamless execution of sales initiatives and promotional campaigns.
  • Prepare regular sales forecasts, detailed performance reports, and comprehensive market analysis for management review.
  • Proactively resolve client inquiries, complaints, and operational issues promptly and professionally.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior sales personnel or distribution partners as required to enhance team performance.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 4 years of progressive sales experience in the Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) sector, specifically within distribution management or key account management.
  • Proven track record of consistently exceeding sales targets and driving significant market share growth.
  • Strong understanding of the Nigerian FMCG distribution channels, including modern trade, traditional trade, and wholesale operations.
  • Exceptional negotiation, persuasion, and closing skills with a result-oriented mindset.
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills, capable of building rapport and trust at all levels.
  • Proficiency in CRM software and advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel for data analysis, PowerPoint for presentations, Word).
  • Strategic thinking capabilities coupled with strong analytical and complex problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively as part of a cross-functional team.
  • Valid Nigerian driver's license and willingness to travel extensively within the assigned Lagos Island region and beyond as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Economics, or a closely related field.
  • Master's degree or professional certification in Sales Management or Marketing.
  • Previous experience working with multinational FMCG brands in the Nigerian market.
  • An existing network of strong contacts within the Lagos Island FMCG distribution landscape.
  • Fluency in local Nigerian languages relevant to the Lagos region (e.g., Yoruba).
